3 days Marrakech to Erg Chigaga


Day1:    Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Zagora

Early pick up from your Marrakech hotel or Riad. Head south crossing the High Atlas Mountains standing like a wall dividing the south from the north and west of Morocco. Drive through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m) and get to the majestic Ait Benhaddou Kasbah that has been always used as favourite backdrop for shooting Hollywood movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Prince of Persia and many others. Resume your journey to the Hollywood of Africa, Ouarzazate because of its Atlas Film Studios. We will stop by the Taorirt Kasbah, then a nice drive through the Anti-Atlas, Agdez, Draa Valley before getting to Zagora.

Day2:  Zagora – Tamegroute – Mhamid – Erg Chigaga

After breakfast, we will make a visit to Tamegroute Village known for its oldest library in Morocco and served previously as a favourite spot for receiving Koranic and Islamic teachings. Tamegroute is known also for its unique pottery. Drive to Mhamid that mark the final village before getting to one of the main gateways to the Great Sahara. Saddle your camel up and spend the night under the stars in the desert camp.

3 days Marrakech to Erg Chigaga

Day3:  Mhamid – Foum Zguid – Tazenakht – Marrakech

Early wake up to attend the miraculous view of sunrise over the sand dunes of Erg Chigaga. After breakfast, we will drive through the dried Lake of Iriki, Foum Zguide Village, then to Tazenakht known for its unique rugs that are skilfully made locally by women. We will resume our journey back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, which we will get to in the evening.
